Can't I just take medication instead of going to counselling?

You could. However, medication alone is not a cure for the problems that have followed us from our past or are happening in the present. Instead, it  can be a great starting point towards healing. Medication can make day-to-day life feel more manageable, which subsequently opens the door for individuals to do some of that tougher healing work.
