Intimacy means that we’re safe enough to reveal the truth about ourselves in all its creative chaos.
— Marianne Williamson

Relationships are hard work and no one hands us an instruction manual on how to be in one.   (Well, we know we didn't get one growing up.) As a result, many couples find themselves in a position where counselling might help them have a richer relationship.

You and your partner might want to address any of the following:

  • Communication skills
  • Intimacy issues
  • Conflict resolution
  • Extramarital affairs
  • Boundaries
  • Trust issues

Think of couples counselling as treating the relationship as the client. It is the therapist's job to highlight barriers and how to create an improved relationship for both parties. Occasionally, some of the issues coming up in a partnership can lead to one or both parties seeking out individual counselling, as well.
